Pottery Studio

Made by Hand — Clay forms are formed on a potters wheel or by using sheets of clay, creating useable dishes brushpainted with expressive animals and floral compositions and fired at 2200°F.

The Process

Griffith Tso paints freehand on white and brown stoneware. A look at how a handprinted koi platter and panda tile are completed:

The platter is formed, dried, fired at 1800° and then painted in underglazes. Glossy clear and turquoise glaze is layered over the painting and a colored overglaze finishes the exterior. This prosperity koi platter is fired at 2200° making it functional dishware.
